Domestic Violence Awareness Month

This month on The Healthy Entrepreneur radio show (which airs every Monday at 4:30 am est on www.881thetruth) we are celebrating the harvest season by dedicating the month of October to The Great harvest: Your Well-Being!!

This is the time of the year where we pull or harvest from the earth what we need to reach optimal wellness but protecting your health is just as important in harvesting your health. So, I wanted to dedicate a show to the issue of Domestic Violence entitled "Always Protect Your Well-Being!!" I hope this show will empower the victims of Domestic Violence and help them in their healing process of this tragic experience.

This show hit home for me on so many levels, witnessing domestic violence in my home as a child, being a single parent of a teenage daughter who was in a domestic violence situation earlier this year with a former boyfriend and witnessing my neighbors loose their daughter to domestic violence. I want this show to honor the memory of Janelle Alexis Reese, the daughter of my beautiful neighbors John and Janet Reese. I met John & Ms. Jan when I first moved to NC and we quickly became family. Then, 8 months later they lost their loving daughter Janelle to gun violence in a domestic violent situation on March 21, 2017.

Janelle was a compassionate person always sensitive to other people's needs and always willing to help them with their problems . She was beautiful inside and out. Janelle, a mother of 2, is terribly missed by all who knew and loved her. On this show we cherish and honor the life of Janelle Alexis Reese and so many like her who was taken from this world way too soon.

According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, on average nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by as intimate partner in the U.S. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of (some form of) physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime.

It's time to stand up, it's time to speak up, and it's time to start having conversations with our youth on what is and is not acceptable behavior!!!

If you or someone you know is in a domestic violent situation and need to talk to someone right now?

I urge you to call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233. They are available 24/7. You have a right to protect your well-being!!

"The Lord examines both the righteous and the wicked. He hates those who love violence" Ps. 11:5 (NLT)
